Digital Investment Program - Monday 1st September 2008
At Harveys we have always believed in technology and investment at the leading edge of our markets. Earlier in 2007 we identified a niche in our markets for small to medium run print on plastic products at the quality end of the market. This solution needed to fully integrate with all other technologies in our manufacturing facility to ensure an enhanced offering to our customers. Finally our requirement for high resolution print quality combined with the need for green technology led us to our major investment program.
Harveys are very pleased to welcome our Fuji Acuity printing press to its new custom built home within our manufacturing plant. The machine can print with all the light fast and anti-pick qualities of traditional screen-print but in full colour photo-quality resolution onto any substrate.
Another unique feature in our market is the ability to personalise any item – we now have the ability to mail-merge (like traditional Direct Mail) using variable data in our print. An example of this would be a polypropylene conference box where each box would have a delegate name printed onto the box. This gives us many technical skills that are unique to our markets and of course it is fully compatible with our other technology – we can screen print a solid backing colour and then overprint using the Acuity for example.
We have printed on perspex, aluminium, glass, PVC, polypropylene – in fact it can print on any substrate up to a maximum thickness of 48mm. We can create eye-catching point of sale display panels up to a maximum of 2.5m x 1.5m, or fully bespoke one-off marketing items – the possibilities are endless!
The Acuity uses a UV curing ink process that creates virtually zero waste, and because of the nature of digital printing being direct from our upgraded studio facility it has market leading minimum set-up. Both of these points focus our commitment to the environment – virtually zero waste and en eco-friendly print process.
